Changing Washington

Rep. Kilroy is committed to changing the way business is done in Washington. For too many years, the special interests controlled the agenda. Transparency on legislative proceedings was not a priority and spending was appropriated in backrooms without a public process.

Rep. Kilroy started changing things immediately by sponsoring an initiative to make Congressional pay raises a matter of public record, not an automatic procedure. She also made transparency the top priority on the investments she requests for central Ohio. Every request was posted clearly on her website, as well as the benefit to the taxpayers.

When the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act came before Rep. Kilroy for a quick vote, she bucked her party. She knew how important the recovery package was, but voted with Republicans to hold the vote for 24 hours so that everyone could read the important and lengthy act.
