Scalise: More than $8 Million in Recovery Funding for Louisiana

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise announced today that U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $8,206,228 in grants for Hurricane Katrina recovery projects.

 “Hurricane recovery and flood protection will remain a top priority of mine,” Scalise said. It is vital that our entire Congressional Delegation continue working with our state and local leaders to ensure that we are able to rebuild the region better than it was before Katrina. Southeast Louisiana has shown impressive resilience during the recovery process.”

Following are the allocations of the funds awarded by FEMA.

• $1,213,271 for St. Tammany Parish School Board – Salmen High School.
• $1,357,184 for New Orleans Roads and Streets.
• $5,636,173 for Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office – Multiple facilities.

FEMA obligates funding for these projects directly to Louisiana. It is the State’s responsibility to ensure that eligible sub-grantees receive these awards.
