Scalise: Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes Eligible for Public Assistance

Decision from FEMA on St. Tammany still pending

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes have been added to FEMA’s Major Disaster declaration to receive public assistance. A decision from FEMA on St. Tammany Parish is still pending.

St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes are all eligible for Individual Assistance. Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes tonight were added to the Major Disaster declaration for Public Assistance including debris removal and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities.

“This is very encouraging for Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes who are still working hard to recover from damages caused by Hurricane Gustav,” Scalise said. “I will continue working to get St. Tammany included, because they have suffered severe damage from the storms too.”
