Scalise: Nine Service Academy Nominees Receive Appointments

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that nine of his nominees for the U.S. Service Academies have received appointments to one of the five service academies. 

“Our nation’s service academies provide an excellent way to earn a post-secondary education while serving our country,” Scalise said. “These students are upstanding members of their communities, and they each excel in school and extracurricular activities. I am confident that they will represent Louisiana with dignity in our Military Service Academies and will be our future leaders.”

The following students were offered appointments to a Military Service Academy, and upon acceptance of the offer, will be starting in July.

United States Air Force Academy

• Jeffrey LeBlanc (St. Paul’s High School) of Madisonville
• Tim Turner (Pope John Paul II High School) of Slidell

United States Merchant Marine Academy

• Jordan Berges (Holy Cross School) of Jefferson
• Joshua Goodwin (Mandeville High School) of Madisonville
• Max Morse (St. Paul’s High School) of Covington

United States Military Academy (West Point)

• Thomas Barnett (Jesuit High School) of Metairie
• Richard Green (St. Paul’s High School) of Mandeville

United States Naval Academy

• Rachelle Ammond (Pope John Paul II High School) of Slidell
• Peter Chatry (St. Paul’s High School) of Covington

The United States Naval Academy’s Prep School will release its appointments at the end of May.

High school students interested in applying to a service academy should request a nomination application during the spring/summer of their Junior Year in high school. The applications are due in Congressman Scalise’s office by October 29th of their Senior Year.
