Scalise to speak in Hammond, Covington and Metairie

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Hammond -- Congressman Steve Scalise today will be speaking at three Taxpayer Tea Parties throughout the First Congressional District, joining his constituents to protest their anger and opposition with out-of-control government spending, borrowing and proposed tax increases.

“President Obama and the liberals in Congress are spending too much money, borrowing record amounts from our children and grandchildren, and proposing tax increases on all American families,” Scalise said. “I voted against these reckless policies, including the bailouts, the ‘stimulus,’ and the irresponsible budget. As an alternative to these reckless policies, I have joined with other Members of Congress to present responsible solutions to the problems our country is facing.”

Congressman Scalise’s schedule for Wednesday, April 15 is as follows.

Cate Square Park Pavilion
200 West Charles Street

Covington

Metairie

Today there are an estimated 500 taxpayer tea parties all across the country modeled after the Boston Tea Party more than 230 years ago.
