Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today sent copies of H.R. 3590, the proposed government takeover of health care, to libraries throughout the First Congressional District.
"This is an opportunity for residents of the First Congressional District to stay actively engaged in the health care debate and read the bill to see first-hand why this government takeover of health care will be harmful to Louisiana and the rest of America,” Scalise said. “Louisianans will not be fooled by the broken promises and back room deals used by Speaker Pelosi and her liberal lieutenants, and I encourage residents to continue finding out the facts and letting their voices be heard.”

Scalise has co-sponsored common-sense health care reforms like HR 3400, the Empowering Patients First Act, that address the problems that exist with health care without destroying the things that make our medical care the best in the world. Among the highlights of Scalise’s bill, HR 3400 would lower the cost of health care for families, prevent discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions, and create common-sense medical liability reform. HR 3400 has over 50 cosponsors, including five Members of Congress who are medical doctors.
