Scalise Comment on President’s National Security Speech

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise made the following statement with regard to President Obama’s speech on national security.

“It is very disturbing that a terrorist with the intention to kill hundreds of Americans was allowed to board a plane bound for the U.S. with explosives, but I am glad that the President has finally taken responsibility for this inexcusable intelligence failure. I look forward to reviewing the Administration's security report on this terrorist plot, and would expect the President to hold those who were responsible for this intelligence failure accountable.

“This latest terrorist plot also underscores the danger of President Obama's proposal to release terrorists from Guantanamo Bay, bring many of them to the United States and give them the same legal rights as American citizens. It is time for the President to abandon that reckless idea.”
