As thousands of Americans are called to serve their country in military conflicts overseas, we should take this opportunity to reflect on how truly blessed we are to be citizens of the most free nation on earth. Our military carried out operations against the tyrannical regime of Saddam Hussein, who governed through oppression, fear, murder, and hatred. For over two decades, the people of have known nothing more than his barbaric tactics. Americans, conversely, enjoy unprecedented freedoms and serve as ambassadors of democracy and hope to the people of this world. I am hopeful that Americans at home will come together to support our efforts and to pray that the men and women in uniform - America's heroes - return home safely.
