Military Personnel
Before my time in the Senate, I had the chance to do a number of USO tours in Germany, Bosnia, Kosovo, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait, and I got to meet many of our courageous servicemen and women. That experience changed my life. As a Senator, I have the chance to make sure our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Airmen get all the support they deserve. I’m especially proud of the Minnesota National Guard, which plays such a vital role in our military and which performs every mission asked of them with real distinction. The all-volunteer military has required multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan - with some service members now on their sixth tours. That has been a strain on them and their families, and we need to make sure they have the resources to do what we ask of them.
