TSA Screening

The failed attempt last December to bomb an American airplane with explosives hidden inside the bomber’s clothing was the most recent illustration of our need for better airport security. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and elsewhere deserve our support for their dedication to work that is vital to our national security. Airport screening needs to include many layers so that the chance of catching terrorists is as great as possible.  Senator Franken believes that new security technology such as full-body scanners can be an important layer, as long as they can be integrated with existing layers of security and there are appropriate privacy protections for travelers.
