The funds will be used by the Merrillville Police Department to purchase laptop computers designed to withstand police driving conditions and allow for more efficient communication between the Merrillville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. Additionally, this funding will ensure that each officer has a laptop in his patrol vehicle to assist in the dispatching of emergency calls, conducting warrant checks, and obtaining information regarding public safety. This investment will improve the safety and effectiveness of the officers of the Merrillville Police Department.
