Amount Requested: $800,000
The funds will be used by Indiana University Northwest to establish the Northwest Indiana Center for Environmental Research. Specifically, the funding will be used to purchase sophisticated analytical instruments for the purposes of characterizing air, water, and aquatic sediment samples, to provide information regarding regional air and water quality and determine the relationship between the environment and public health. This investment provides significant environmental, public health, and economic benefit to the local community and to the nation.
