The funding will be used to support interdiction and drug demand reduction activities by the Indiana National Guard. Lake County, Indiana, was designated a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) in 1995 in order to fight the established “drug pipeline” running from Chicago to Detroit. The National Guard Counter Drug Program works in close partnership with the HIDTA to combat illegal narcotics.
