Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation, Purdue University Calumet, IN

Amount requested:  $4,000,000
The funding for this project will support research efforts at the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) at Purdue’s Calumet campus. Funding will also support further expansion of computational tools and equipment. The CIVS allows professors and students to conduct research through advanced simulation, modeling, and visualization technologies.  These technologies provide an innovative way to learn and understand extremely complex information through visualizing, manipulating, and interacting with computer-generated simulation and models, as well as allow users to interact with three dimensional computerized environments. Rapid advancements in computation speeds, sophisticated graphics, and numerical methods enable the widespread use of simulation including the design and optimization of industrial systems.  Funding is administered by the National Nuclear Security Administration, charged with maintaining Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) capabilities.  CIVS furthers this goal, and fits well within the ASC program.
