Washington, Sep 23, 2008 -  Today, Rep. Bill Foster (IL-14) announced that the U.S. Department of Justice awarded $466,608 to 14th District firm Epsilon Lambda Electronics Corporation to develop a high-resolution radar to detect concealed weapons.

“This award will help Epsilon Lambda Electronics develop a method for detecting concealed weapons that will help keep our public and our police officers safe,” Rep. Foster said. “Every day our law enforcement officers put their lives at risk to fight crime on behalf of our communities. Our thanks go to Epsilon Lambda Electronics for creating this vital law enforcement tool.”

As part of the National Institute of Justice Continuation Awards, the Justice Department awarded the West Chicago-based firm the funds needed to develop the advanced radar.

“Epsilon Lambda Electronics is taking an innovative approach to solving our security problems,” Rep. Foster concluded. “As we face future dangers that threaten our communities, we need these kinds of high-tech solutions that will help keep us safe and secure.”
