Supreme Court

The United States Supreme Court is located across from the Capitol on First Street NE. The building is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Attending Oral Arguments at the Supreme Court

Oral arguments at the Supreme Court are open to the public. To determine whether the Court will be hearing any cases during your visit please refer to the Argument Calendar schedule. Updated information on schedule changes can be obtained by calling the Supreme Court at (202) 479-3211.

On days when the Court is hearing arguments, two lines will form for visitors wishing to attend. One line is for visitors who would like to stay for the entire case. The second line is the three minute line, for visitors who only want to step in for a few minutes.

On days when the Court is not hearing arguments, lectures are offered in the courtroom every half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.


Tours of the Supreme Court

My office may be able to arrange a tour of the Supreme Court for your family. Tours are limited to a maximum of six people are arranged on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in arranging a tour of the Supreme Court, please contact the tour cooridinator in my Washington DC office as soon as possible. You may also just fill out a tour request form, indicating you would like a tour of the Supreme Court, and submit it to my office.
