Rep. Mike Coffman Statement on Three Month Anniversary of ObamaCare

Washington,D.C. , Jun 23 -

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO) issued the following statement today marking the three-month anniversary of the enactment of ObamaCare:

“Today marks the three-month anniversary of ObamaCare.   What do the American people have to show for it?  We’ve gotten a string of broken promises, new taxes, rising health care costs, higher deficits, and forced job cuts.”

“Since President Obama enacted his new health care law we’ve heard from both the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that the new law will not lower health care costs or reduce the deficit.   We’ve also seen some of the nation’s largest employers announce that the new law will force major cutbacks and layoffs.  Small Businesses have announced that the health care tax credit will actually act as a disincentive to increase wages and hire additional workers.  According to the CBO only 12 percent of small businesses will qualify for the credit.  Most tellingly, the President’s administration has acknowledged that the new law will force nearly 90 million Americans to drop their current coverage, despite promises to the contrary.”

“The president is now heavily engaged in a public relations campaign to sell the American people a law they do not want and cannot afford.  I continue to hear from constituents that they reject ObamaCare and want reform that won’t grow government and increase costs.  It’s time for the president to stop selling the American people a false bill of goods and I will continue to fight for repeal of ObamaCare.”
