BCCC, Patrick Murphy Announce Veterans' Green Job Training Opportunity Print E-mail

(Bristol, PA) – On Monday, Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-PA) joined representatives from the Bucks County Community College Green Jobs Academy to announce an exciting opportunity for US Military Veterans interested in pursuing careers in green energy fields. The program will provide up to 20 veterans the opportunity to participate in training programs focused on electrical and solar energy. Tuition is subsidized for veterans. Applications are now being accepted for the program, which will start on June 14th, 2010 at the newly launched Bucks County Community College’s Green Jobs Academy located in the Bridge Business Center, Bristol, PA.

Veterans in the Academy will:

  • Receive nationally recognized certificate and pre-apprenticeship preparation
  • Participate in an all-veterans training group
  • Be prepared with 12 weeks of electrical, Solar PV, and sustainability training including hands-on internships
  • Receive job preparation and placement assistance

Future programs will be launched in the areas of environmental remediation and site reclamation.

Veterans Green Jobs integrates comprehensive veteran support and leadership development programs with state-of-the-art education, training, placement, and employment in high opportunity green job fields—energy efficiency, energy retrofitting, renewable energy, and environmental conservation and restoration.

The Bucks County Community College Green Jobs Academy is an industry-driven public-private partnership that provides training opportunities for jobs in the green economy.
