Funds Create Jobs, Foster Economic Growth, Save Troops' Lives

(Wrightstown, PA) – Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8th District) joined Alan Cantor, CEO of ARCCA, Inc., and ARCCA employees to announce nearly $5 million in federal funding to create jobs and expand technology that the U.S. military utilizes to keep troops safe. Murphy secured $2.4 million for the company in 2009, and $2.4 million again in 2010. ARCCA develops cutting-edge technology designed to protect soldiers in ground vehicles from sustaining injuries during attacks and accidents. The funding has created and will continue to create jobs, foster economic growth, and, most importantly, will save troops’ lives.

The current seating systems used by the U.S. military do not fully protect soldiers during blasts and the subsequent slam down of the vehicle after the explosion. ARCCA is using this funding to develop the Dual Stage Variable Energy Absorber (DSVEA), an energy absorber for ground vehicle seating systems. The pioneering technology utilizes sensors to react according to an individual soldier’s proportions, even in the midst of an IED explosion. As the military implements this technology, incidences of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI, the hallmark injury of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan) and spinal cord injuries will be reduced, and troops’ lives will be saved.

ARCCA has created 7 jobs with the funding in the first year alone, and plans to create 5 more in the second year.

“I’m proud to fight for funding that creates jobs here in Bucks and keeps our troops safer overseas,” said Rep. Patrick Murphy. “ARCCA is doing outstanding work and I’m proud to partner with them as they continue to help rebuild our economy.”

“Congressman Murphy has been a tireless advocate for job creation in Southeast Pennsylvania, and his commitment to our soldiers’ safety is second-to-none,” said ARCCA CEO Alan Cantor. “We’re looking forward to continuing to work with him to create jobs.”
