Funding for Next Generation Fuel Technology Will Held Rebuild Local Economy, Create Jobs

(Warminster, PA) – Today, Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8th District) announced $2.4 million in federal funding that he recently secured for clean hydrogen fuel technology for Bucks County-based Power + Energy. Rep. Murphy was joined by Peter Bossard, the founder, CEO and President of Power + Energy, Inc. The locally-owned small business is working with the United States Navy to develop hydrogen purification and generation technology. The cutting-edge technology developed by P+E will help cut down on fuel consumption, reduce greenhouse gases, and lessen our dependence on foreign oil, while creating jobs and rebuilding the local economy. Congressman Murphy has been a tireless advocate for bringing green jobs to Bucks County, and has secured millions of dollars in federal funding to ensure that Southeast Pennsylvania is a leader in renewable energy and job creation.

The funding comes as part of the FY 2010 Defense Appropriations bill, and will be used by the United States Navy as Power + Energy, Inc. develops hydrogen-powered shipboard engines for generation systems which use large amounts of fuel. With these replacement fuel cell systems, the Navy will greatly increase fuel efficiency, bringing them closer to meeting their objective of having a distributed power supply which is less vulnerable to attack.

“I’m proud to fight for funding that will help outstanding local companies like Power + Energy rebuild our economy with cutting-edge green technology,” said Rep. Murphy.

“Congressman Murphy has had the foresight to get funding for this critical hydrogen technology, and this will help P+E grow and employ significant numbers of people here in Bucks County,” said Peter Bossard, founder, CEO and President of Power + Energy, Inc.
