Hundreds of Jobs Added; Additional Opportunities Created for Area Subcontractors and Manufacturers

(Southampton, PA) – Today, Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8th District) joined business leaders from Environmental Tectonics Corporation (ETC) and local officials to announce a $40 million contract awarded to ETC by the Republic of Korea. The contract will create and preserve hundreds of Bucks County jobs building two of ETC’s latest motion-based flight simulation technology devices, the Authentic Tactical Fighting System (ATFS-400) and the GYROLAB (GL-4000). The devices, intended to improve the health, safety, and training of pilots, will be designed, assembled, and tested on site at ETC’s Southampton facility in Bucks County. The contract will further spur economic growth by employing dozens of area subcontractors and manufacturers, members of Team ETC. ETC has been developing high-performance aeromedical training and research devices for 40 years.

Congressman Murphy has championed ETC’s presence in Bucks County, authorizing $5 million in federal funding in the FY2010 Defense Authorization Bill passed earlier this year in the House of Representatives and advocating for the company from his position on the House Armed Services Committee. In addition, Rep. Murphy has encouraged his colleagues and the diplomatic community to support ETC’s efforts to win the South Korean contract.

The contract award, along with recently-awarded ETC contracts, has generated over $100 million in local spending with over 200,000 hours of work for ETC’s local manufacturing coalition of 30 associated companies that comprise Team ETC. This steady stream of recently-awarded contracts generates a pipeline of work for Team ETC that will bring about and sustain hundreds of jobs in Pennsylvania for years to come.

“ETC does excellent work and I'm proud to partner with them to bring more good-paying jobs to the 8th District during these tough times,” said Rep. Patrick Murphy.

“ETC thanks Congressman Murphy for his outstanding leadership bringing jobs and economic growth to our community,” said William F. Mitchell, President and Chairman. “As we do our part to exceed our clients’ expectations and rebuild the local economy, ETC looks forward to working with him in the years to come.”
