51 Employers Participated in Bristol Job Fair, Drawing Crowd of Over 800 Job Seekers

(Bristol, PA) – ON TUESDAY JULY 13, Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8th District) hosted a Job Fair at Bristol Township’s Truman High School, helping connect 864 residents searching for work with local employers. Murphy partnered with PA CareerLink, Bucks County’s one-stop service for job seekers, to put the fair together and get the word out to local residents.

“We’ve got a strong, capable workforce in Bucks County but too many of those folks are still struggling to get back to work, through no fault of their own,” said Murphy. “Today was about getting those individuals face time with local employers and learning what jobs are out there that may fit their talents.”

Fifty-one employers participated in the event, including Comcast, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, SEPTA, and wind energy company Gamesa. Job offerings ranged from manufacturing and sales positions to healthcare and information technology.

Among the companies present was Southampton-based Environmental Tectonics Corporation, a small aerospace and biomedical manufacturing company looking for salesmen, technical writers, and draftsmen. Arcca, Inc, a forensic engineering and litigation services company, was interviewing for a mechanical engineer position.

This was the second Job Fair that Murphy has hosted this summer. The first, held last month in Langhorne, drew over 600 residents and two dozen employers.

Murphy has focused on helping Bucks County families and small businesses get through the economic downturn by working to bring new jobs to the region. He has promoted tax credits to spur job growth, helped small businesses secure loans and grants, and he helped bring more than 3,000 jobs back to the community.
