Visit Washington DC

Congressional tours may be set up through my Washington, DC office. Due to congressional courtesy, I can only provide these services to people who reside in California's 13th Congressional District. Security concerns have placed restrictions on federal buildings such as the White House. However, public tours of many wonderful and historic points of interest remain available.

You may avoid waiting in public tour lines for select buildings by submitting the following tour request form. For more information on these sites, please visit the links in the form below. Please be aware that tour spaces are limited and are provided on a first come-first served basis.

White House (Please note: The White House requires 35 days notice to submit a tour. There are no exceptions. The White House accepts requests up to six months in advance, and spaces fill quickly).

This is a self-guided tour of four public rooms on the ground and state floors of the White House. The tour lasts about half an hour, during which there are no opportunities to sit or use the facilities. I don't recommend this tour for young children.

Space is extremely limited--My staff will do everything they can to secure you a tour, but demand is very high, and the White House is not able to accommodate everyone. Openings are distributed through a lottery system. You should contact my office six months in advance of your visit so that my staff can submit your name to the lottery. Please understand that no matter how early you submit your request, there is no way to guarantee that the White House will approve your tour.

The White House conducts background checks on all visitors. In order to submit your request, my staff will need the following information for every member of your party:

1. Full First, Middle, and Last Name
2. Gender

3. Date of Birth
4. U.S Citizens Age 16+: Social Security Number
5. Foreign Nationals: Country of Citizenship

6. City and State of Residence (if visiting the U.S, city and state where you are staying in the U.S).

Please write your security information here:

My staff will keep your security information completely confidential.

Please Note: 90-120 days after your visit, the White House will release your name and the date of your tour to the public. They will not release your date of birth, Social Security Number, or any other information you've provided.

Admission is free. Phone: 202-456-7041. Website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/whtour/ Closest Metro: Farragut West or McPherson Square (blue and orange lines)

My staff will contact you via e-mail to arrange your tours.

PLEASE NOTE: If you use email spam blocking features (such as EarthLink's spam filter), please change your email preferences to accept emails from *@mail.house.gov so that my staff can contact you about your tours. Messages caught in your spam filter may delay your response, or prevent access to certain tours. Due to the large volume of emails received in my office, it is not practicable to perform the spam verification process.
