Health Reform |
Providing high-quality, affordable health care to all - without adding to our deficit - is the goal of health reform. On March 21, I voted for the comprehensive health reform bill known as H.R. 3590, The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The President signed H.R. 3590 into law on March 23, 2010.A separate amendment or “fixes” bill H.R. 4872, The Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, was also passed by the House 220-221. I voted against these fixes and you can read my statement here. H.R. 4872 was signed into law on March 30, 2010. On April 7, 2010, I hosted an informative health care forum in Nashville. View highlights of the event here. Please review the resources below and contact our office if you have any questions. On July 1, 2010, The Department of Health and Human Services unveiled HealthCare.gov , an innovative online tool that will allow consumers to take control of their health care by connecting them to new information and resources that will help them access quality, affordable health care coverage. HealthCare.gov is the first website to provide consumers with both public and private health coverage options tailored specifically for their needs in a simple, easy-to-use tool.
