Stopping Waste Fraud and Abuse

When wasteful government contracts are given to well-connected corporations, and then low-quality work is done, Senator Dorgan believes that it hurts more than just taxpayers - it also hurts our nation's security. Dorgan has led the charge in the Senate to ferret out waste, fraud, and abuse throughout all areas of the government.

As Chairman of the Democratic Policy Committee, Dorgan has investigated abuse in government contracting, with a special emphasis on contracting oversight in Iraq.  Dorgan has held hearings examining shoddy work done by contractors that have tragically led to the injury and death of our troops, he has examined questionable contracting misconduct that wastes taxpayer dollars and threatens of the safety of our military personnel, and he has proposed the establishment of a Truman Committee to provide strong Congressional oversight for contractors.
