NEW NEWARK VETERANS OUTPATIENT CLINIC SITE SELECTED
Tiberi Applauds Needed Facility Expansion Moving Forward
Washington,
Jul 28 -
U.S. Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) applauded the selection of Scout Development LTD as the construction contractor for the new Veterans Affairs (VA) Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Newark. The new clinic will be built at 1861 W. Main Street in Newark.
“This is great news for veterans in our community. I am pleased the facility will expand to meet the growing needs of veterans in Central Ohio,” said Congressman Tiberi. “Since I was elected, I have been working with leaders in the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve services for Ohioans who served in our armed forces. The contract award moves along the process of expanding services to veterans, ensuring they can get care close to home.”
Congressman Tiberi has urged the Veterans Administration to expand the Newark facility for years. The current clinic serves nearly 2,670 veterans in 3,400 square foot center. The new facility is projected to serve as many as 4,500 veterans in a 9,800 square foot facility.
Once the construction of the new, expanded building is complete, services are expected to include audiology, a clinical pharmacy, and a larger lab and group treatment room. The amount of convenient parking is also expected to increase.
Congressman Tiberi was instrumental in getting the clinic’s designation changed to a full community-based outpatient clinic in the May of 2006. The change in designation expanded the services available to include primary care, home-based primary care, women’s health, mental health services and optometry.
