Presidential Greeting Cards

There are a certain number of occasions for which the White House Greetings Office will send appropriate recognition to honor of the event. These occasions include the following important events:

Baby

  • Birth of Baby (must be born during current administration; send request after baby's birth)
  • •Adoption of Child

Birthdays

  • Age 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95
  • Age 100 and every year thereafter
  • Veteran's Birthday (age 70+)

Retirement

  • 30 years or more in the workforce

Weddings and Anniversaries

  • Wedding (sent after wedding date)
  • Wedding Anniversary Greeting (sent for 25, 50, 60, 65 anniversary)
  • Greeting for 70th anniversary, and every year thereafter

Other

  • Condolence Letter (for next of kin only)
  • Serious Illness Letter
  • Family Reunion (25th and every 5 years thereafter)
  • Graduation (College/Post Graduate)
  • Religious Milestone (Baptism, First Communion, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, etc.)
  • Eagle Scout
  • Girl Scout Gold Award
  • Pastoral Anniversary (25th and every 5 years thereafter)
  • Church Anniversary (25, 50, 70 and every 5 years thereafter)

These greetings are limited to United States citizens only.

Advanced Notice Required - Your request must be received six (6) weeks prior to the date of the event. We will make every effort to honor your request, but cannot guarantee a greeting if this guideline is not met. Also, greetings are generally not sent after the date of the event unless it is a wedding congratulation or a birth announcement.

Required Information - Please include the following information in your request:

  • Name of Honoree(s), including title: Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., Miss.
  • Home Address of Honoree(s)
  • Your Name (the requestor) and Daytime Phone Number
  • Exact Date of Occasion (MM/DD/YYYY)
  • The Occasion for which the Greeting is requested:
    • Birthday Request: Age
    • Wedding Anniversary: Number of Years of Marriage
    • Wedding: Couple’s Married Names and Date of Wedding
    • Get Well: Indicate Recipient as Adult or Child
    • Graduation: Level of Degree
    • Religious Milestone: List the Achievement
    • Birth of Baby: Baby’s Full Name and Date of Birth
    • Retirement: Number of Years/Profession
    • Eagle/Girl Scout Gold Award: Date of Ceremony

When to Expect Your Greeting - In most cases, greetings will be mailed from the White House approximately ten (10) days prior to the event.
