WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that $750,000 in federal funding for the Flint MTA passed the House of Representatives. Congressman Kildee secured this funding in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill, which passed the House 251 – 167 late last evening. The bill must still be approved by the Senate before it can be signed into law.
“I am very happy that the House of Representatives has approved my request for this funding for the Flint MTA,” said Congressman Kildee. “Public transportation provides an important service to our community and many families rely on our bus system to access services and facilities on a daily basis. This funding will help ensure that our communities can continue to depend on reliable, public transportation for years to come.”
Listed below are details of the project:
$750,000 for the Flint MTA for the Conversion of MTA paratransit facilities to compressed natural gas
The project consists of converting MTA paratransit service centers located in Mt. Morris, Grand Blanc, Fenton, Flint, Flushing and Swartz Creek, Michigan for fueling and storage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles. The MTA will phase out diesel and phase in CNG vehicles to the paratransit fleet once appropriate support infrastructure is in place.
