HATCH: EPA POWER GRAB WILL COST AMERICAN JOBS, BANKRUPT ECONOMY

WASHINGTON – Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, today joined the fight against the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to regulate greenhouse gases, which he called a “power grab” that will cost American jobs, bankrupt the economy and hurt the nation’s global competitiveness.
At a press conference with Sen. Barbara Murkowski, R-Alaska, and 11 other senators, Hatch spoke in support of the EPA Disapproval Resolution to oppose the federal agency’s decision to regulate greenhouse gases through the Clean Air Act.
“This is about putting human activity under central control. And the cost of this Washington power grab by the EPA? American jobs, plain and simple,” said Hatch, who is co-sponsoring the resolution.
“Never in our nation's history has there been a more dramatic shift of raw power away from the people and their representatives and to an unelected body of bureaucrats than what is now being sought by the EPA,” Hatch continued.
The resolution would block the EPA from enforcing such emissions. Hatch and Murkowski believe it is Congress’s job to establish any carbon control program, not the executive branch. At last count, the resolution has 41-co-sponsors in the Senate, a number which includes three Democratic senators. The Senate is expected to vote on the measure tomorrow.
Hatch and Murkowski were joined at the press conference by Sens. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn; John Barrasso, R-Wyoming; Bob Bennett, R-Utah; Kit Bond, R-Mo.; Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.; Mike Enzi, R-Wyo.; Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; James Inhofe, R-Okla.; Mike Johanns, R-Neb.; John Thune, R-S.D.; and George Voinovich, R-Ohio.

Dr. Richard Lindzen, one of the UN's lead climate scientists from MIT said it best: "Controlling carbon is kind of a bureaucrat's dream. If you control carbon, you control life."
This is about putting human activity under central control. And the cost of this Washington power grab by the EPA? American jobs, plain and simple.
To the American people I say this: Watch your members of Congress to see if they are willing to do their job and protect your job and keep the EPA from regulating almost every aspect of our lives.
Never in our nation's history has there been a more dramatic shift of raw power away from the people and their representatives and to an unelected body of bureaucrats than what is now being sought by the EPA. And never before have the stakes been higher for our economic future.
