Requesting Entity: City of Vincennes
Location: 201 Vigo Street, Vincennes, Indiana 47591
Project Name: Vincennes Levee System Protection
Amount Requested: $30,000,000
Project Summary: These funds would be authorized to the Army Corps of Engineers to make the necessary repairs and improvements to the Vincennes levee system to achieve a FEMA certifiable level of protection.  This project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because this levee protects the citizens and farmland of Vincennes.  If the levee system looses certification, the community will be forced to purchase flood insurance and new businesses will be required to build above certain levels.

Requesting Entity: Evansville Vanderburgh Levee Authority District
Location: 1300 Waterworks Road, Evansville, IN 47713
Project Name: Evansville Vanderburgh Levee Stabilization and Repair
Amount Requested: $3.8 million
Project Summary: These funds would be authorized to the Army Corps of Engineers to stabilize and repair the Evansville Vanderburgh levee.  The Corps would stabilize the levee at five areas of concern where bank sliding is occurring.  Additionally, funds would be used to make repairs to the levee along a 1.2 mile section at Waterworks Road, where frequent flooding has caused significant erosion and tree roots have allowed water to penetrate through the levee. These repairs would include: removal of trees and roots, filling root holes with clay, repairing damaged wave wash areas with soil, and lining the levee with rip rap.  This project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will ensure we have a stable levee to protect the residents and farm land in Vanderburgh County.

Requesting Entity: Niblack Levee Association
Location: 113 West Cottonwood Lane, Vincennes, IN 47591
Project Name: Niblack Levee Repair
Amount Requested: $223,000
Project Summary: These funds would be authorized to the Army Corps of Engineers to carry out repairs at the Niblack Levee located in Bruceville, IN.   Specifically, these funds would be used to reline culvert pipes, relocate electric power lines, and bring electric motor power at the pumping stations to 97 percent capacity.  This project would be a valuable use of taxpayer funds because this levee is vital to the area for flood protection.  This levee protects 15,900 acres of farm land, as well as northwest Knox County that contains the towns of Oaktown, Busseron and Emison.  The levee also protects southwest Sullivan County with a population of 10,000 residents.
