Slaughter Congratulates Progressive Neighborhood Credit Union on 10-Year Anniversary Rochester Institution Has Helped District Residents Turn Dreams into Reality
Washington, DC - Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (D-Fairport), Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee, today congratulated the Progressive Neighborhood Federal Credit Union on its tremendous success since its founding in 1995. Through its loans, the Union has helped countless local citizens to improve their community and realize their dreams.
Congresswoman Slaughter offered her congratulations during a visit to the Union's new branch, where she met Progressive's co-managers, Gloria Edmonds and Kathy Stiokas, and observed the work of the institution.
"Progressive plays a vital role in the health and growth of this community," Rep. Slaughter said. "It has a history of lending to people who can't get help from major lenders, but remain committed to their dreams. We owe Progressive a tremendous amount of gratitude for its vision and commitment to what is good for the people of Rochester and our region," she added.
"I'm so glad that the Congresswoman had a chance to see our new branch and to learn about our exciting Progressive Way to Better Credit program," Gloria Edmonds said. "We greatly appreciate her support as we continue our work supporting this community."
BACKGROUND Founded in 1995, the Progressive Neighborhood Federal Credit Union now has nearly 1,800 members and 2.4 million dollars in assets. The Union recently opened a second branch, and will soon be instituting a new program, the Progressive Way to Better Credit, designed to offer further encourage and support for those seeking to advance their savings, increase the efficiency of their budgets, and move their ventures forward. |
