Slaughter Announces $27,033 Federal Grant to Erie's Belmont Shelter Corporation Funding Will Support Housing Counseling Services to Promote Home Ownership
Washington, DC - Rep. Louise M. Slaughter (D-Fairport), Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee, is pleased to announce that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $27,033 to the Belmont Shelter Corporation in Erie County. The funds will support Belmont's work providing quality, affordable housing for individuals and families with low incomes or special needs.
"We can't overestimate the security, strength, and dignity individuals and families derive from a quality house they can call their home," Rep. Slaughter said. "Organizations like Belmont know that this is the stable base from which men, women, and children can build successful lives together," she added. "Their work is vital to the health and well-being of our community."
The Belmont Shelter Corporation administers rental assistance programs, provides comprehensive housing counseling services, and develops, manages and consults on affordable housing throughout Western New York. To learn more about Belmont, click here.
HUD's Housing Counseling Program supports the delivery of a wide variety of housing counseling services to homebuyers, homeowners, low- to moderate-income renters, and the homeless. The program seeks to expand homeownership opportunities and improve access to affordable housing.
