Brown Joins with House Republicans in Pledge to Sustain Presidential Veto on War Spending Bill

Congressman BrownWashington, Apr 2 -   U.S. Representative Henry E. Brown, Jr. and more than 150 Republican members of the U.S. House released a letter sent today to President Bush pledging to sustain a Presidential veto of the pork-laden ‘cut and run’ Iraq supplemental bill in the event it reaches the President’s desk.

The letter states:

“We are greatly concerned about the extraneous and excessive non-security related funds contained with the Global War on Terror supplemental spending bill, currently under consideration in the Congress. If you choose to veto this measure over this spending, we will vote to sustain your veto.”

Upon signing the letter, Brown noted, “I fully support the language of this letter. We are sending a strong message to the President that we are still working for a clean troop funding bill; anything less puts American troops and their mission in peril.”
