“I was proud to stand with my colleagues on the VA Committee today to honor some truly inspirational heroes with this new partnership between the US Olympic Committee and VA, which will enhance rehabilitative support to injured veterans at the community level.
These brave men and women, injured in the line of duty while protecting our American freedoms, have proven that they can not only proudly represent their county on the battlefield, but can also demonstrate great athleticism and represent the US in the Paralympic Games.
Their perseverance and drive, even after sustaining a devastating injury, puts life into perspective and I am honored to say that I had a small part in supporting these warrior champions today.”
Today, Congressman Henry E. Brown, Jr. (R-SC) joined Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, his colleagues on the VA Committee, members of the US Olympic Committee and several paraplympian war veterans for a signing ceremony marking the new partnership between the VA and US Paralympics.
