Congressman Henry Brown Named a Conferee on the

Water Resources Development Act of 2007

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Chairman John Mica (FL) named Congressman Henry Brown a conferee to the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) conference committee.  Different versions of WRDA passed the House and the Senate earlier this year and now enters a conference committee to reconcile these differences before it can be presented to the President.  Following the announcement, Water Resources Subcommittee member Brown said:

“As my district in South Carolina represents 75% of the state’s coastline, I have a strong desire to see the Water Resources Development Act signed into law.  The House-passed version of the bill, which enjoyed strong bi-partisan support, prioritizes projects that are critical for protecting the environment and ensuring the safety of the entire region.  I was pleased to be named a conferee and look forward to working with my colleagues in the House and the Senate to ensure the success of this critically important legislation.”

Included as part of the House-passed bill were several projects sought by Brown and local communities to give the Army Corps the tools to improve the environment, conduct critical drainage improvements, and reduce coastal storm damage throughout the Grand Strand and Charleston Regions.
