Brown on House Passage of Irresponsible Budget

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Henry E. Brown Jr. (R-SC) made the following remarks upon passage of the conference report of the Democrat-crafted budget:

“American families continue to struggle and cut back on their spending, yet here in Washington, it’s business as usual. The Democrat majority and the Obama Administration have passed a budget that will double the national debt in five years and triple the national debt in ten years, $1.2 trillion deficit in 2010 and deficits of nearly $1 trillion a year every year for the next 10 years.

Not a single one of my Republican colleagues could support such an irresponsible path of spending, one that created the largest budget in American history. But we can do better. And I believe for the sake of our children and our grandchildren we must do better.”
