Forsyth County

Forsyth County

Forsyth County is one of the fastest growing counties in Georgia.  Founded in 1832 and named after John Forsyth, a Georgia Governor, Congressman and Senator, Forsyth encompasses 225 square miles with the City of Cumming serving as the county seat.

Historical and natural treasures abound in Forsyth County, from Poole’s Mill Covered Bridge, one of the few remaining covered bridges in the country, to one of Georgia’s most beautiful lakes, Lake Sidney Lanier.  Lake Sidney Lanier, an Army Corps of Engineers Lake, not only provides recreational opportunities for many Georgians; it is also credited with a role in the county’s accelerated growth.
