Rep. Pitts Statement On Partial-Birth Abortion Ruling

Washington—Congressman Joe Pitts (R, PA-16) released the following statement today after the United States Supreme Court affirmed a ban on partial-birth abortion.  The Court’s decision said that the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, passed by Congress with bipartisan majorities, and signed into law in 2003, does not violate the Constitution.

“Today’s Supreme Court decision is a win for the sanctity of human life and a win for the Constitution.  An overwhelming majority of Americans oppose this horrific procedure, and saw it banned through their democratically elected representatives in Congress nearly four years ago.  Today’s ruling upholds this democratic process and ends a gruesome practice that has no place in civilized society.”
