Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) today issued the following statement after House Republicans presented “A Pledge to America,” a new governing agenda focused on addressing the American people’s top priorities:
“For too long, the voices of the American people have been ignored by Democrats in Washington, DC. In the face of public outrage, Democrats have arrogantly pursued a job-killing, big government agenda that doesn’t reflect the priorities of the American people. The voices of America haven’t fallen on deaf ears – Republicans have been listening, and understand that Congress should be focused on creating jobs, reducing government spending and overhauling a dysfunctional Congress. Through this pledge, House Republicans are offering America a new way forward.”
The governing agenda is the culmination of a months-long engagement with the American people in which House Republicans sought their ideas and priorities for Congress. The agenda offers concrete solutions that can be implemented immediately to tackle the issues that are most important to Americans, including job creation, spending restraint, national security, health care and reforming the institution of Congress.
