Rules Approves Suspension Authority for Floor Consideration

WASHINGTON-The House Committee on Rules met today and reported a rule for the consideration of H. Res. 1190- Providing for consideration of motions to suspend the rules.

Providing for consideration of motions to suspend the rules

1.         Provides that measures may be considered under suspension of the rules at any time through the calendar day of Sunday, March 21, 2010.

2.         Provides that the Speaker shall consult with the Minority Leader on the designation of any matter for consideration under suspension of the rules pursuant to this resolution.

RESOLUTION

Resolved, That it shall be in order at any time through the calendar day of March 21, 2010, for the Speaker to entertain motions that the House suspend the rules. The Speaker or her designee shall consult with the Minority Leader or his designee on the designation of any matter for consideration pursuant to this resolution.
