Disaster Designation

Minnesota is a state full of natural wonders and beauty. It is also a state that has its share of natural disasters, like flooding, tornados, and severe winter storms. Each year, communities across the state do their best to prepare for whatever nature may bring their way. Despite all the efforts, sometimes it's not enough.  In these situations the federal government has the ability to step in to make sure that people get the help they need to get back on their feet. Federal disaster designations make towns, local governments, citizens, and communities eligible for a variety of federal assistance. Sen. Franken fought hard to secure federal disaster designations for the areas hit hardest by this year's flooding and tornadoes to ensure their full recovery and ability to prepare for next year.
