WASHINGTON, DC - Rep. Peter Welch today announced funding requests for 29 Vermont projects and programs as part of the Fiscal Year 2010 Appropriations process.

Welch's requests have been posted in a new section on his web site: www.welch.house.gov/appropriations.

Welch requested the House Appropriations Committee consider funding job-creating, community-based projects throughout Vermont as the committee writes its FY 2010 appropriations bills. Welch's requests reflect his priorities of making health care, energy and higher education more affordable; supporting veterans and the Vermont National Guard; investing in energy efficiency and renewable energy programs; and creating quality jobs for Vermonters.

"When requesting federal funds for Vermont projects, my number one priority is to help local communities, organizations and businesses succeed," Welch said. "These programs represent some of the finest Vermont has to offer. They will create jobs, increase the affordability of health care, college and energy, and provide resources to the Vermont Guard."

Welch's release of his requests comes as part of an extensive series of reforms to the Appropriations process instituted by the House of Representatives during the 110th and 111th Congresses.
