We're ready when you are, Mr. President

“When we come back in September, I will be available to answer any questions that Members of Congress have. If they want to come over to the White House and go over line-by-line what's going on, I will be happy to do that.”
– President Obama, 7/29/09

Members of Congress were delighted at the President’s invitation.  The time for health reform has indeed come, and the Republican Party has many positive solutions to bring to the table.  Members of the Republican Study Committee have offered over 50 health care solutions since January.  At a time when even Democrat Members of Congress publicly admit that Republicans have been shut out of negotiations on health care, the President’s invitation came as a sign of hope.  The very next day Congressman Tom Price, M.D., sent a letter accepting the President’s invitation.  Congressman Price is still awaiting a positive response from the White House, and additional letters have been sent.

Yet, the President continues to claim he is interested in a bipartisan compromise on health reform.

“My attitude has always been, let's see if we can get this done with some consensus. I would love to have more Republicans engaged and involved in this process.”
– President Obama, 8/20/09

“And I will continue to seek common ground in the weeks ahead. If you come to me with a serious set of proposals, I will be there to listen. My door is always open.”
– President Obama, 9/9/09

We're ready when you are, Mr. President.
