CONGRESSMAN BOUCHER ANNOUNCES FEDERAL FUNDING FOR VIRGINIA HIGHLANDS SMALL BUSINESS INCUBATOR
$51,797 Will Expand Parking at the Incubator
(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Rick Boucher announced today that, at his urging, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through its Rural Development Agency, is providing a federal grant of $51,797 to the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator to expand its parking facilities, which will enable more employees of the Incubator’s occupants to park at the Incubator.
“With 10 companies now located at the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator employing 147 individuals, the demand for parking at the Incubator has exceeded the space available. This allocation of federal funding will enable the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator to add 50 parking spaces, providing its occupants better access to the facility,” Boucher said.
With the benefit of the federal funds, the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator will add 50 new parking spaces to its current lot housing 117 spaces. The 10 companies located in the Incubator now employ 147 individuals. The federal funds will meet this demand for parking, providing the Incubator’s occupants easier access to the facility and ensuring that visitors are able to access the center for meetings and other events.
“I am pleased that the Rural Development Agency is providing this funding for the Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator. The Incubator is an important asset in achieving our economic development goals for the region, helping local entrepreneurs develop small businesses that now employ 147 individuals," Boucher said.
