CONGRESSMAN BOUCHER RECEIVES U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE AWARD

Boucher Recognized for His Pro-Business Record in Congress

(Washington, D.C.) – This week the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business federation which represents businesses throughout the nation, presented Congressman Rick Boucher its Spirit of Enterprise Award for supporting legislation critical to the business community in the First Session of the 111th Congress.

“The Chamber applauds Representative Boucher for supporting the private sector and job growth through these difficult times. He has demonstrated great courage and we commend him,” said Tom Donahue, Chamber president and CEO.

The Chamber’s Spirit of Enterprise award is given annually to members of Congress based on rankings it gives for key business votes on issues established as priorities by the Chamber and on which the Chamber informs Congress of its position prior to the vote.

“I am honored to receive the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise Award. My top priority is to encourage economic development and the creation of new jobs for Southwest Virginians, and we are achieving that goal in a number of ways, including a broad effort to create a climate in the region that is favorable to small business startups and existing companies seeking to expand their operations into new locations,” Boucher said.

“The business community depends on solid partnerships on Capitol Hill to help grow the economy and create new jobs for hardworking Americans. This award recognizes those lawmakers who have demonstrated leadership on important business issues,” Donahue concluded.
