CONGRESSMAN BOUCHER ANNOUNCES $27,900 FOR THE HONAKER BRANCH OF THE RUSSELL COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

Federal Grant Will Be Used to Purchase New Computers and Shelving

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Rick Boucher announced today that, at his urging, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, through its Rural Development Agency, is providing a federal grant in the amount of $27,900 to Russell County to purchase new computers, shelving and a projector for an expansion of the Honaker Branch of the Russell County Public Library.

“The federal funds which I am announcing today will purchase new computers, which will have high-speed Internet access, new shelving and a new projector and screen for the planned expansion of the Honaker Branch of the Russell County public library,” Boucher said.

Currently, the Library is raising funds for an expansion of the library, which will increase the size of the library and include a new community meeting room. The federal funds announced today will assist in the purchase of five new computers with high-speed Internet access, which will add to the library’s four computers currently in use. Additionally, new shelving will be purchased to accommodate the library’s expanded inventory, and a projector and screen will be purchased for the new community room.

I am pleased that the Rural Development Agency is providing federal funding to assist the Honaker Branch of the Russell County Public Library with its expansion efforts. The expansion will enable the library to offer more and better resources to the community, and residents of Honaker will benefit from the availability of the additional computers, enhanced book collection and new meeting room," Boucher said.
