If you live in a county that is one of the 29 Iowa counties that has been granted a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Individual Assistance please contact FEMA:

Why: It is important to register with FEMA. In order to be eligible for the programs that FEMA offers, everyone who had damages needs to get registered.

Who: Residents and/or business owners who sustained losses in the presidentially designated counties

What you will need: Applicants registering for aid should be prepared to provide basic information about themselves, details on insurance coverage, and any other information to help substantiate losses

What you can receive: Disaster assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover.

Where to Apply: Register on-line at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired.

When to Apply:
Anytime on-line or the toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (local time).

Please note: You need to apply for FEMA if you have applied for the Department of Human Services (DHS) Individual Disaster Grant because it is no longer valid due to the presidential declaration
