Amendment Process Announcement for H.R. 2786 - Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Reauthorization Act of 2007

Amendments must be preprinted in the Congressional Record

Dear Colleague:

This is to notify Members that the Committee on Rules is expected to meet the week of September 4, 2007 to report a rule for floor consideration of H.R. 2786, the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Reauthorization Act of 2007.  It is anticipated that the rule will require that amendments be preprinted in the Congressional Record

Members who wish to offer an amendment must submit their amendments for preprinting in the Congressional Record by the close of business Wednesday, September 5 to ensure that their amendments are printed prior to consideration of the bill on the House Floor.  At the top of the amendment write “Submitted for printing under clause 8 of Rule XVIII” and include the Member’s signature and the bill number.  The amendment should then be taken to the desk on the House Floor.  Amendments should be drafted to the text of H.R. 2786 as reported by the Committee on Financial Services.  This text is available on the Rules Committee website (www.rules.house.gov).

Amendments should be drafted by Legislative Counsel and also should be reviewed by the Office of the Parliamentarian to be sure that the amendments comply with the rules of the House.  Members are also strongly encouraged to submit their amendments by fax (6-1366) to Bob Sunshine at the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) for analysis regarding possible violations of Clause 10 of Rule XXI (PAYGO).
