AMENDMENT PROCESS FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA APPROPRIATIONS ACT FOR FISCAL YEAR 2001

The Rules Committee is planning to meet the week of July 24 to grant a rule for the consideration of the District of Columbia Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2001.

The Rules Committee may grant a rule which would require that amendments be pre-printed in the Congressional Record. In this case, amendments must be pre-printed prior to their consideration on the floor.

The Appropriations Committee ordered the bill reported on Thursday, July 20 and the Appropriations Committee expects to file the report on the bill on Tuesday, July 25. Copies of the bill as ordered reported can be obtained at the Appropriations Committee office in room H-218 of the Capitol.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are properly drafted, and should check with the Office of the Parliamentarian to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me or Seth Webb of the Rules Committee staff at 5-9191.
