AMENDMENT PROCESS FOR H.R. 1776, THE AMERICAN HOMEOWNERSHIP AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY ACT OF 2000

The Rules Committee is expected to meet the week of April 3rd to grant a rule which may limit the amendment process on H.R. 1776, the American Homeownership and Economic Opportunity Act of 2000.

Any Member who wishes to offer an amendment should submit 55 copies and one copy of a brief explanation of the amendment to the Rules Committee in room H-312 of the Capitol by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4th. Amendments should be drafted to the version of the bill reported by the Committee on Banking and Financial Services.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are properly drafted, and should check with the Office of the Parliamentarian to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House.
